Discord Translation Bot for Gaming Servers

Guilds, clans and LFG servers end up with players who share a game but not a language. Pigona is a Discord translation bot that lets each of them write in the language they are fastest in, without splitting the community into one server per language.

1. What a multilingual gaming server needs translated

Gaming chat is short, fast and full of abbreviations, and it is not business email. These are the five jobs a mixed-language gaming server hands to a translation bot, and the Pigona feature that covers each.

2. What a translated exchange looks like

These are illustrative examples of the kind of exchange the Smart Context Engine is built for, not a recorded transcript. Each assumes a channel whose target language is English. Real output varies with the message and the conversation around it.

Recruitment (Spanish to English): ¿Alguien tiene hueco para la raid de las 9? Nos falta un healer.

Translation: Does anyone have a spot for the 9 o'clock raid? We're missing a healer.

A literal translation of "hueco" would read as "hole". In an LFG post it means an open slot.

Announcement (Korean to English): 오늘 밤 10시(서버 시간)에 길드전이 시작됩니다. 늦지 마세요!

Translation: Guild war starts tonight at 10 PM (server time). Don't be late!

A member posts this in a channel with Autonomous Translation on, and the English version appears under it.

Follow-up question (German to English): Wer nimmt den Tank? / Ich nehme ihn, aber ich brauche zehn Minuten.

Translation: Who's taking the tank? / I'll take him, but I need ten minutes.

The second message only makes sense with the first. With a context depth set on the channel, Pigona reads the earlier message too.

3. Set it up in a few minutes

  1. Add Pigona to your server with the button below. Discord requires the Manage Server permission to add a bot.
  2. Run /configure setup to open the setup card. Reactive Translation (flag reactions) needs no setup and works from the moment Pigona joins.
  3. Run /configure channel in a channel, pick its Target Language, and leave Autonomous Translation on, which is the default for new channels.
  4. Check that the Smart Context Engine is on (it is by default; Server Settings in the Dashboard, or /configure server) and set a context depth on the channels where fast back-and-forth matters.
  5. Optional: link channels as Relay Channels in the Dashboard, where each direction counts as one Relay Channel. Let members pick their language once through /personal settings or a /configure user-onboarding menu, and use /configure language-roles to link each language to a Discord role.

4. What Pigona does not do

A translation bot should be clear about its limits, and for a gaming server these are the ones that matter.

5. What it costs for a gaming server

A server plan covers every member in the server, so you do not pay per player. The free server plan includes 50 Translation Credits a day with no credit card. A short message costs from 0.2 credits with Smart Context off, which works out to up to about 250 short translations a day. Turning Smart Context on adds roughly 0.05 credits per analyzed message, so each translation costs more.

A message already written in the channel's target language is not translated, so it costs nothing. Relay Channels need a paid server plan, starting at €15 a month for up to 5, and each direction between two channels counts as one, so a two-way link uses two. The pricing page has the full credit formula and every plan.

Frequently asked questions

Can Pigona translate voice chat in Discord calls?

No. Pigona translates text messages, and voice messages posted in a channel when someone right-clicks the message and chooses Apps, then Translate Attachment. It does not join voice channels or caption a live call.

How do I run a guild with players in many languages?

Keep one shared channel with a target language, and let players who read another language use Translate Buttons or a flag reaction. Or give each language its own channel and link them with Relay Channels, remembering that each direction counts as one relay. Pigona supports 100+ languages.

Will it understand gaming slang and abbreviations?

The Smart Context Engine reads the recent conversation, tone and slang, which helps with common abbreviations and with references to earlier messages. It is not a guarantee for every game-specific term, and there is no per-server glossary.

Is it free for a gaming server?

Yes to start. The free server plan has 50 Translation Credits a day, no credit card, and includes Autonomous Translation, Reactive Translation, Translate Buttons, Attachment Translation and the Smart Context Engine. Relay Channels need a paid server plan, and Intelligent Summarization needs a Pro or Business server plan.

Does every member need to pay or install anything?

No. One server plan covers every member. Members can also use the free personal app to translate in servers where Pigona is not installed.

Can players translate without filling the channel with translations?

Yes. Reactive Translation posts a translation when someone reacts with a flag, and Translate Buttons give a private translation visible only to the person who asked. Only Autonomous Translation posts a translation under every message.

Does it read screenshots and images?

Only when someone asks. Right-click the message, choose Apps, then Translate Attachment, and Pigona reads the text in an image, a PDF, a text file or a voice message. It costs 5 credits plus the translated output, and a voice message adds 1 credit per started minute of speech. An image shows an estimated cost to confirm first.

Does it translate posts from bots and webhooks, like a patch-notes feed?

Not automatically. Autonomous Translation and Relay Channels skip posts made by bots and webhooks. A member can still react to such a post with a flag to get a translation, as long as it has text.
