Pigona vs RitaBot

RitaBot (ritabot.gg) prices translation differently from anything else in this comparison series - there is no free tier, and the pricing unit is not messages or characters but a formula based on channels and languages. It has also added DeepL alongside Google Translate, 166+ languages, and a cross-server channel-linking feature since it was last reviewed here.

1. There is no free tier

RitaBot's cheapest tier, Reaction, is $2.99/month - unlimited flag-reaction translation, zero automatic-translation tasks included. There is no $0 option at all. Pigona's Starter tier gives 150 credits per day, forever, no card required.

2. Pricing by a formula, not by volume

RitaBot's five tiers - Reaction ($2.99/mo), Casual ($6.99/mo, 100 tasks), Tinkerer ($10.99/mo, 200 tasks), Pro ($15.99/mo, 350 tasks), Ultima ($21.99/mo, 550 tasks) - are priced by "tasks," where a task is one channel configured for automatic translation between a language pair, using the formula languages × (languages − 1). A channel translating between 2 languages costs 2 tasks; an interconnected 10-channel, 10-language setup costs 90. Pigona's Translation Credits scale with message length and whether Smart Context is on, not with how many languages a channel supports.

3. What happens past your character allowance

Each RitaBot tier has a soft character limit for Google/DeepL translation. Past that, their own site says it keeps using Google or DeepL unless the target language is not one their proprietary ML engine is trained on or confident in, in which case it falls back to that engine - no stated hard cutoff, just a possible review past 2 million characters. Pigona's Smart Context Engine runs the same way on every tier regardless of volume.

4. Where each is genuinely ahead

RitaBot: more raw languages (166+ vs Pigona's 100+), cross-server channel connections ("Group Cross-Channel Chat," which Pigona's same-server-only Relay Channels does not do), and a disclosed, ungated fallback past the character soft cap. Pigona: an actual free tier, a stated multi-message Smart Context Engine, Intelligent Summarization, and an Analytics Hub.
